Positioned for Blessing

Exodus 40:1, 33-34 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying: “…you shall set up the tabernacle of the tent of meeting…”. And he raised up the court all around the tabernacle and the altar, and hung up the screen of the court gate. So Moses finished the work. Then the cloud covered the tabernacle of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.

The Lord precisely instructed Moses on how to set up the Tabernacle in the desert. It was a complex task and it took time to prepare everything and to put each of them in their proper place. Moses placed the ark of the Testimony, the table, the lampstand, the lamps, the altar of incense and the altar of the burnt offering, among other things. He took the anointing oil and anointed the tabernacle and all that was in it, in effect dedicating everything to God. There were curtains, sockets, bars and pillars, all needing to be put in place. Everything was brought in and carefully positioned in just the order the Lord instructed (take a look at Exodus 40 to read the specific details). “So Moses finished the work.”

“Then the cloud covered the tabernacle of the meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.” We often want the glory of the Lord without doing the work that Moses did. He was obedient to the Lord, and had put everything into His order. It appears clear from the Scriptures that nothing that God spoke was left undone, and that everything in the sphere that Moses was responsible for was in order.

How about you? Is your life in God’s order? As far as you know, is there order in your relationships—with your husband, your wife, your children, your parents, your friends, your pastor, your boss, your neighbor? Is there a relationship that has gotten too big, too important, or is there one that’s been neglected and is in need of repair?

Is everything in its right place? The Lord told Moses exactly what to put in the Tabernacle and exactly where to put them. Do you have that assurance that the various elements of your life are what should be there, and that they are in God’s order, too?

Deuteronomy 28:1-2 says, “Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the LORD your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the LORD your God.” Psalm 84:11b says “No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.”

Our Lord wants to bless us. Are we rightly positioned to receive those blessings? His glory falls as we fall into His order. Start putting in order those things that aren’t and just watch what happens.

Prayer: Lord, I believe that You desire to bless Your people. Please show me anything that is out of order in my life so that You can bless me—not only for my sake, but because You clearly want to.
