Changing Your Default Setting, Part 3 

Matthew 28:20b “…I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Old Default Setting

“I’m all alone in this.”

Many of us feel this way, sometimes often. It’s true that our trials and tribulations are unique in some ways to us. No one has ever experienced the exact same combination of pains and tests as we have. But we never experience them alone.

This is one area where our feelings can lead us into grievous error. If the idea that we’re all alone in a circumstance becomes more than a temptation, we’re wounding ourselves and calling God a liar.

Hebrews 13:5-6 tells us: For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say, “The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”

If God has taken care of the biggest separator between us and Him—our sin—by the death of Jesus Christ, then He has clearly demonstrated His desire to be as close as we will allow Him to get to us.

New Default Setting

“If I have given my life to Christ, He is ALWAYS with me.”

Let’s be persuaded with Paul that “neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39)

Prayer: Lord, help me to settle it forever in my heart and mind that You are always with me. Help me to resist the lie that I’m alone the next time I feel that way. Help me to believe what You say.
